The Land Rover Defender is the icon of Adventure and Freedom. For me the ideal vehicle to live my dream and explore the world.

My Land Rover Story

'Best in Show' - 60th Anniversary of Land Rover in Cooma

Ever since I can remember we had a Land Rover at home.

The first one was a Series III 109 with a Carawagon sleeper conversion. It was fitted with an elevating roof which allowed a person to stand inside the vehicle and sleeping space for four. Every year we went on holiday camping with this Landy. On these trips my brother and I slept 'upstairs' and our parents 'downstairs'.

After many years my parents bought a 110 6 cylinder and sold the 109. Old enough to use spanners and other tools myself, together with my father we removed the Carawagon fit out (except the elevating roof) and installed everything in the 110.

The 6 cylinder did not stay in our garage for very long. It got soon replaced by 110 County V8. We again installed the Carawagon fit out and a local mechanic added a Pop Top. With this vehicle we travelled extensively around Europe and northern Africa.

Our own Land Rover

For many years I was dreaming about travelling from Switzerland (where I grew up) to Australia (where I was born). After having found the right woman for this kind of adventure we purchased in 1998 our own Land Rover Defender 110 Td5 Station Wagon. This was one of the first Td5's imported to Switzerland.

Since 2003 we now own a Defender 130 Td5 which I converted to a Station Wagon with Pop Top. This Landy was awarded on the 23rd March as the 'Best in Show' at the 60th Anniversary of Land Rover in Cooma.
